The camera is not capable of capturing the same level of detail your eyes can. That’s why when you take a picture of some beautiful scenery, you will be disappointed when you see that the picture is not on par with what you saw with your own eyes. HDR photography, by capturing a much wider range or lighting, colors, and details, fixes this problem. And HDR Darkroom takes your bracketed photos and blends them together so you can come up with stunningly beautiful HDR images. You can end up with an image that looks the same, or even better than what you saw with your own eyes.

HDR Darkroom is available for Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X. To run the application on a PC, it must meet the following system requirements: 32 or 64-bit Windows edition, anything from XP SP2 onward; 2GHz processor or better; 1GB of RAM memory or more; graphics card capable of 1024x768 resolution; 1GB of free disk space. If your system meets these requirements (and the simple truth of the matter is that a modern one will easily meet them), then go ahead and install HDR Darkroom. You will have to go through a standard setup process to get the application up and running: download an executable, run it, click through the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard.

There are two things you’re going to like about HDR Darkroom interface: the fact that it is good looking and the fact that it is very easy to use. As expected, the image you’re working on is presented front and center on the interface. To the left you have buttons to save the image, share it, and more. To the right you have a section with various options to edit your image. And in the upper left hand corner, where it is usually placed, there’s a traditional File menu. It’s a simple layout that provides access to powerful functionality.

Using HDR Darkroom is a simple 3-step process:
Step 1 – select and load bracketed photos into the application; choose if you want the application to perform alignment and/or ghost reduction after loading the images.
Step 2 – from the section on the right hand side, tweak and tune the image. You can adjust the tone, the colors, the saturation, and so on. On top of that, you can crop and rotate the image if you want to.
Step 3 – save the stunning image created with HDR Darkroom or share it via Flickr, Facebook, or Twitter.

If you can’t do things one at a time, you will be glad to know that HDR Darkroom provides support for batch processing.

HDR Darkroom will amaze you with its ease of use and powerful functionality. It is a must-have if you want to come up with awesome HDR images.

Pros

HDR Darkroom is available for Windows and Mac; its system requirements are not hard to meet. HDR Darkroom provides support for many RAW file formats. The application’s user friendly interface is quite good looking. Use HDR Darkroom to come up with stunning HDR images.

Cons

The trial puts a watermark on the output; nag screen.
